Holland America Line Unveils 1999 Alaska Brochure

Celebrating 50 Years of Alaska Cruising

Holland America Line, a leader in Alaska cruising for over 50 years, has released its 1999 Alaska brochure, featuring a total of 117 cruises on six ships.

In 1999, the cruise industry is launching at least a dozen new ships, and Holland America Line is leading the way with the introduction of the MS Volendam, a new Rotterdam-class R-class cruise ship. The Volendam will sail out of Australia and Asia in the winter and Alaska in the summer.

Alaska is a popular destination for cruise passengers, and the state estimates that the cruise shutdown cost Alaska $1.7 billion per year. In 2019, 37 ships delivered 1.3 million cruise visitors to Alaska, a new record.

Holland America Line has been a pioneer in Alaska cruising, and the company's 1999 Alaska brochure is a testament to its commitment to providing its passengers with the best possible experience. The brochure features a variety of itineraries, from short cruises to longer voyages that explore the state's many glaciers, fjords, and wildlife.
